Brief history on parrots

Thank you for sticking around ๐Ÿ’“ do you want to know the story behind parrots? Well, here it goes.

Parrots have a lengthy history and date back to nearly 5000 years. According to Chewy Editorial. Parrots were most commonly used as pets, and status symbols as birds were only owned by wealthy and well-set individuals.  Parrots became a part of different cultures. I think mostly because of the fact that it is a bird but not just any bird, it's a bird that can imitate what is being said, a bird that can talk. I am convinced that the first person to come across a parrot talking for the first time might have not been okay for days. Furthermore, parrots were kept in Asia and Africa as a symbol of royalty as stated earlier a symbol of status. In Europe during 327 B.C. Alexander the Great forces took power over India and took ring-necked parrots to Greece. This shows us how interest in parrots grew. During ancient times, the homes of parrots which were cages were dripped with gemstones and precious metals. It was as though, the parrot itself knew the significance of the cages.

The Roman Empire wanted a part of this creature and went out of its way to employ all sorts of great teachers to teach parrots Latin. They wanted this done to be able to comprehend this one-of-a-kind bird. It is believed that a flock of parrots led Christopher Columbus off course in 1492. He contributed to the surge in interest as he took the back with him. Fast forward to the 20th century, there had been another surge in interest and ownership due to the breakout television series, "Baretta". However, today there is not such a high interest in parrot ownership or enthusiasts as many young people seem uninterested. It is alleged that in the coming years we will see a decrease in this type of parrots.
